this work consists of a series of hand-formed gypsum boulders that are created within and pigmented by ground soil. Each boulder is sealed and polished, and stacked in composition over an internal steel frame. I ask the collectors of these works to engage with the forms by stacking and rearranging the compositions as they see fit.
The intent of this series is to blur the boundary between artist and collector. The collector’s role is not simply to acquire and display the work, but to actively participate in its creation. The collector’s arrangements are as valid as the original composition, creating sculptural forms that are in constant change and evolution.
