Neoformative is a series of works based on intuitive process. Within a designated space of time and utilizing time-sensitive materials, objects are formed by hand without planned conception.
The nooks and crevices of this piece remind me of the bits of bones I would find and collect from around my families property. While entirely unintentional, it seems only fitting to an exercise in fluidity; Like root systems, patterns of growth and those of decay, these forms are part of our origin language.
Utilizing a material with a very limited working time, I hand sculpt wet gypsum and powdered stone over mounds of clay, creating process-based forms. The means of creating the work and the resulting forms are objects of intuitive discovery.
An experiment in plaster-washing with charcoal pigmentation, based on research from Transhumances II Residency (2021).
These pieces are hand-sculpted over an internal armature. Once dry, the material is chiseled and refined. Foraged woods and found driftwood are burnt, ground and sifted to create a pigmentation using natural oil additives, then sealed with a natural was finish.
There is a branch, upon a tree, which I often see while swimming in the sea near my home and studio. This candelabra is influenced by my time in its’ company.
20 branches, 17 hand-forged brass candle spikes. Hand sculpted gypsum and powdered stone, internal steel frame.
an experiment in process and motion. A table formed by hand in clay and cast in stone. The marks and indentations of a single moment, mood and process made permanent in stone.
An experiment in form and organic process, natural pigmentation and material study. Interstice, a small space in between, something held between two thoughts.
Inspired by experience with and around brutalist architecture. Console 06 pulls reference from cast and plated concrete structures; utilitarian structure as sculpture.
Designed for the Paris-based Galerie, Archimobilier Paris.
Inspired by travels in the Middle East. In many rural regions, ancient spaces can still be found in use as places of worship or dwelling. These spaces were often constructed by ramming natural materials – sand, clay, straw, wood – in to primitive molds. This method of construction results in architectural patterns and functional forms, made through repetition of basic shapes.
I designed these pieces using combinations of the same molds, hand-pouring, stamping and pressing material in place.

CRUSHED LAMPS
Material degraded, formed and crushed by hand, made permanent through a process of chemical hardening.
